Ending our African trip at Vic Falls

Today was our last day on tour and we were heading for Zimbabwe and the magnificent Vic Falls. By 6am we were on the road but, despite Rimson’s warnings about a long wait at the border, we crossed without much hassle.

After arriving in Vic Falls we went straight to the adventure centre to book adventure activities during our stay. We were flying back to Joburg the next day so didn’t have much free time, but most of the others had at least one additional day in Vic Falls so booked helicopter rides and bicycle tours.

Then we were off to see the falls. Unfortunately, the water levels were particularly high this time of the year, which meant we couldn’t see much at all! The first three or four stops were beautiful and very impressive. After that it got wetter and mistier until the only thing we could see was white! We were completely drenched by the end of the route. It was such a shame as the falls are incredible, but we just could not appreciate it in all its glory.

The rest of the afternoon at the hotel was very relaxing. A few grass-eating warthogs visited the property and were eating right outside our room. Apparently they sometimes have elephant and even hippo wandering onto the grounds.

Our final dinner in Africa was a wonderful buffet with many local dishes, including different meat such as crocodile, impala, warthog and beef. Delicious! We said our final goodbyes to the group and after a last cup of tea with Cynthia and Elles we went to bed.

One day in Vic Falls! Why did you bother to do that? “Flight of the Angel’s” would have been an awesome experience. What about Bungy Jumping???
